Breathing fresh life intoBodmin’s cultural and community scene, intoBodmin is a creative force that’s sending positive waves through the town. Spearheaded by Founder and Co-Director Finn Irwin, this buzzing CIC not only hosts an eclectic array of music, theatre, comedy, and spoken word for local audiences, but it’s also on a mission to nurture and build community ties through events and initiatives.
Happenings are held mainly from its recently renovated base in the Bodmin Old Library building, a space that also offers hot desking and a café, as well as using other historical buildings in the town such as churches and halls. Its busy calendar of regular group meet-ups includes ‘Belt it out’ choir nights, craft clubs and ‘Cuppa Companions’ a chance for people to get together, make friends and boost their wellbeing. IntoBodmin is quenching the thirst for creativity and connection in the community while breaking down barriers.
How did intoBodmin develop over the Programme?
With the support of a £180k levelling grant, this nonprofit organisation has been actively renovating the Old Library space while establishing itself as a commercially viable and community-focused entity in the town. Finn Irwin, the founder of intoBodmin, brings over 20 years of experience in creative hubs and cultural strategy across the South West. During his time with intoBodmin, he’s also been sharing his expertise, consulting with various towns and organisations looking to enhance collaboration among people, place, and cultural strategies, all while balancing social impact with sustainable business models.
As the programme has progressed, intoBodmin has seen an increase in staff and revenue, along with a diversification of its offerings.
These advancements have positioned Bodmin as a notable cultural destination and provided a successful example of how creative industry growth can come from a strong emphasis on place-making.
