Leading the way as the chief representative group for the tech sector in Cornwall, Tech Cornwall has its sights set firmly on fostering growth and innovation in the region.
At the heart of their mission are three core initiatives. Firstly, their Youth Programme is committed to inspiring and educating, cultivating an interest in technology in the next generation. Secondly, the team’s focus is the Tech Academy, which provides clear career pathways into the tech industry, focusing on upskilling the existing technical workforce to meet industry demands. Lastly, through its events strand, Tech Cornwall organises and hosts globally renowned tech-focussed events, such as Agile on the Beach, in partnership with organisations Halfstack and Slush’d. The team is proud to have established the only ‘Festival of Tech’ outside a major UK city, highlighting Cornwall’s vibrant tech community. Together, this work sets a strong foundation that Tech Cornwall hopes will position the region as a critical player in the technology landscape.
How did Tech Cornwall develop over the Programme?
This year, Software Cornwall changed its name to Tech Cornwall, which involved a refresh in their branding, staffing and business modelling. The team has managed to secure sizeable corporate event sponsorship, which, alongside its local membership, has helped to grow the profile and reach of the business. With Tech Cornwall’s growing success, the team has provided a positive social impact through digital skills training.
