Be More Boss: Bec Evans
We teamed up with Creative Review and Facebook to bring you Be More Boss. Together we aim to highlight the current issue of a lack of female-led businesses and celebrate some of the female leaders doing innovative work. To do this we collaborated with the talented GIF artist and photographer Kate Bones.
Bec Evans, Prolifiko – CEO, Founder
Bec Evans is a startup founder who’s passionate about helping people make their ideas happen. With over 15 years’ experience in publishing, most recently as head of innovation for a global publisher, Bec recently left the security of paid work to turn her side hustle Prolifiko into a full-time startup. Prolifiko is a personal writing coach, that uses persuasive technology to help busy people become productive writers. In July 2017 Prolifiko was selected as one of the first cohorts of tech startups for Ignite 2.0 digital accelerator programme.
Bec is a writer and blogger. She writes a monthly column on innovation for The Bookseller, as well as guest posts for Create Hub, Thought Catalogue, Life Hacker and many others. She’s a top writer on Medium for creativity and productivity and wrote a peer-reviewed academic journal paper on behaviour change technology. She is currently writing a book that helps people turn their ideas into action and is represented by a literary agent Michael Allcock.
In the last year, she has spoken at Chief Innovation Officers’ Summit, The Independent Publishers Guild, Hub Dot, Ladies That UX and UX Crunch. She gives volunteer advice and mentoring to Good Labs, universities, business schools and other charities.

- February 2017: selected by Creative England for its CE50.
- Jan 2017: Dubbed ‘Fitbit for Writers’ by The Times
- 2015: Finalist in The Bookseller’s FutureBook BookTech Company of the Year Awards.
Bec was also a highly commended Digital Achiever in the 2016 FutureBook awards, and this year is leading the panel of judges for the 2017 awards.
Prolifiko: your pocket writing coach
Kate Bones, a GIF artist and photographer, has been commissioned to profile four businesses that Creative England has backed – RunAClub, Snapify, Prolifiko and Sponge UK. Bones’ distinctive artworks are being used as part of a digital marketing campaign across Creative Review, Facebook and Instagram, targeted at female creatives.
