C21 has announced The Drama Series Script Competition, produced in association with leading independent studio, Entertainment One (eOne) and Creative England through their recently launched drama venture, designed to find the next big thing in international drama.

We’re looking for outstanding pilots for a one-hour drama series from fresh writers who have got what it takes to create a primetime drama series.

Winners will receive £10K in development funding plus time in a writers room on a current series and assistance in taking their drama project to series, with unprecedented access to the global television drama market.

The C21 Drama Script Competition is open for entries between 19 August 2015 and 16 October 2015. The final round of the script competition will consist of a pitch presentation at the C21 Drama Summit in December this year.

C21 editor-in-chief & managing direct David Jenkinson said:

“We hope this competition will uncover a new generation of talent and find new writers and projects that become global hits. eOne and Creative England are fantastic partners, and their support of this competition means there is a very real chance of the winners turning their scripts into successful drama series.”

Carrie Stein: “, EVP, Global Production, eOne Television said:

“Bold and compelling drama is being created all over the world and for the first time, it’s possible for an unknown writer from anywhere to create a series with distinct characters and universal themes that attracts global attention.  We are hoping this competition motivates terrific writers to take that leap!”

Creative England CEO, Caroline Norbury said:

“At Creative England, we find and support the most exciting creative talent by giving them the investment and introductions they need to find success. It is fantastic to be working with eOne and C21 on this competition to help find new writers, with original stories that have the potential to capture the imagination of global audiences. ”

All final scripts in the competition will be available to delegates at C21’s International Drama Summit in December, forming part of the new talent agenda at the event.
