Creative UK today announces its new Creative UK: Manchester programme, providing specialist support to SMEs, sole-traders and start-ups across the whole of the creative sector in the Greater Manchester region to enable creative businesses to reach their full potential and goals. Creative UK: Manchester is fully funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is delivered by Creative UK in partnership with Manchester Growth Hub and Northern Powerhouse.

Creative UK: Manchester is for creative and cultural practitioners, freelancers and organisations from any creative field or artistic discipline, who have not previously participated in previous Creative UK-run Manchester-based support programmes. The year-long programme is made up of a series of masterclasses, one-to-one support and networking events in addition to tailored workshops for specific creative sub-sectors.

Nadia Adofo, Programme Manager at Creative UK said:

“We’re pleased to announce today our new Creative UK: Manchester programme, following the success of Creative UK’s previous Greater Manchester-based programmes, which had a transformational impact on participants’ commercial knowledge and business growth. The programme is designed to support growth in the local creative sector, create new jobs, and develop new ideas, products and services. We’re looking forward to working with new businesses and helping to boost the cultural economy in the Greater Manchester area.”

One of the first workshops on the programme will be taught by leading international film and creative industry specialist Angus Finney, who will be running a ‘Blueprint for Film & TV’ session on 21st and 22nd September at the School of Art. This workshop is aimed at creative businesses and individuals who are based in the Greater Manchester region working in Film & TV who would like to gain industry knowledge about being able to build a sustainable business model and focusing on the demands and challenges facing content makers in the fast-changing industry. Similar workshops will be programmed around themes such as gaming, podcasting and growing your creative practice.

Creative UK previously supported creative individuals and businesses in the Greater Manchester region through its IDEATE programme. Previous participant Rachel Boyd at Crocodile Media said:

“Being part of the first IDEATE cohort opened our eyes to the creative, story-led possibilities of Immersive Technology. Our mentor was amazing, crucial to facilitating our nascent ideas & it was great to be part of the network. We’re grateful to Creative UK for the support, IDEATE was a terrific launchpad for our RT3D adventures in the Metaverse which so far have taken us to COP 26 and South Korea – who knows where they might lead next?”
