Lady Macbeth was financed by iFeatures, stars Florence Pugh in her debut leading role and was filmed on location in Northumberland. It premiered at Toronto and went on to garner 21 award wins and numerous further nominations, including two BAFTA nominations, five BIFA wins amongst its 14 nominations and a European Film Award. It was released theatrically across the world, grossing over $5m.
William Oldroyd worked with film and video at art college before becoming a successful theatre and opera director, while his short film Best won the Sundance London Short Film Competition in 2013. Alice Birch has written several plays and won the George Devine Award and Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, as well as writing for television shows such as Succession and Normal People.
